Loud Blasts and Smoke Reported in Central Tehran
According to on-the-ground reports, two powerful explosions were audible in the city on Saturday. Simultaneously, two plumes of thick smoke were seen rising over the centre and east of the city.
“The nature of explosions suggests that this is a strike involving missiles,” a media outlet reported, though it did not immediately provide further details.

The incident takes place against a background of severely escalated strains in the Middle East. Key events preceding this attack involve:
- US Military Buildup: A significant buildup of US naval forces in the region, including the repositioning of aircraft carriers.
- Diplomatic Negotiations: Latest discussions between the US and Iran on Tehran's nuclear programme ended inconclusively, with indications of further discussions scheduled.
- Public Statements: Before the attack, a prominent American figure had described Iran as “the leading state sponsor of terrorism” and delivered warnings regarding its weapons development.
- Ultimatum: Allegedly, a time limit of 10 to 15 days had been presented to Iran to resolve the nuclear dispute or confront serious repercussions.
Iranian Response
Reacting to earlier allegations, Iranian officials had accused the United States of spreading “big lies” about its missiles programme. They dismissed assertions about missile development and protest deaths as unfounded.
