A comeback Medvedev won his first championship for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has had a challenging season, winning just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the top ten and finally parting ways with former coach his previous coach.

Presently working with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has gradually advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's maiden title after the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court from March of that year.

Success also means he has achieved twenty-one titles at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to win a title is really nice," commented ranked player Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my child her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six title deciders, comprising in that event earlier this year.

His retrieving play style and frequent outbursts on court had caused some to wonder if his capacity to compete at the elite level was over.

Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and perform positively, backed up by an enhanced service.

Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, taking 4 of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.

The pair exchanged break points in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his first tour championship, gained dominance to force a third set.

He rescued 4 early break points in a competitive third set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to close out the victory.

Appropriately, he clinched victory with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
